Intuition is based on a person's past experience, i.e. actions based on correct knowledge or otherwise. [1] Intuition is a sharp powerful means of guidance for big decisions in a field, if reasoning is not enough. This is provided that it's based on correct, beneficial knowledge pertaining to that field, practiced many times where appropriate.
Jeff Bezos, the Billionaire who founded Amazon reflects how valuable our intuition can be.
"All of my best decisions in business and in life have been made with heart, intuition, guts, you know... not analysis. When you can make a decision with analysis you should do so but it turns out in life that your most important decisions are always made with instinct, intuition, taste, heart" he said. [2]
Furthermore, realise that the type of intuition which encompasses all worldly sciences and fields is one based on knowledge of the Qur'ān & Sunnah that is actualised.
The Messenger of Allah, (ﷺ) said,
“Beware of the intuition of the believer. Verily, he sees with the light of Allah.” Then, the Prophet recited the verse, “Verily, in that are signs for those of discernment.” (15:75) [3]
Ibn al-Qayyim describes the aforementioned intuition, saying,
“It is a light that Allah bestows in the heart of his servant, by which he distinguishes between truth and falsehood, advantage and disadvantage, the honest and the liar.” [4]
So sharpen your intuition by continuing to gain knowledge of the Qur'ān & Sunnah as well as the worldly beneficial knowledge relevant to your field in line with your goals & visions whilst actualising it. As a result, make tremendous progress through actions and decisions, especially the big, important ones, based on sharp, accurate, intuitive decisions being made when the need arises.
